Nonny 10 years ago updated by Terry D / Knobs Slade 4 years ago 6
I attached the hud.. started the full sim object scanner and I get the message DNS-entry not found.  What am I doing wrong?
+1
I'm glad someone else is reporting this same issue.  Mine worked for 1 lousy month then stopped.  I had the luck of contacting one of the beta testers who came to my SIM.  There we were able to prove the problem was the scanner and not the sim, software or my internet. In fact, the beta tester "J" was aware of this issue and said that in fact, THAT was the main issue that was SUPPOSED to be fixed in this last update.  So as a further test, I rezzed the scanner and gave the key to J.  He tried to access it with the exact same problem.  Then, I gave him rez power and he rezzed his working scanner and gave me the key.  THIS WORKED!!! for both of us.  He explained that this problem was both an issue with the site's domain as well as he thought, some database that Thomas uses (something like that).

It is not over 3 months since I've tried to contact Thomas. I have tried on here, via SL (many times!) and directly via email.
NOT ONCE HAS HE RESPONDED to this issue!
The ONLY thing, was about 2 months ago, he just sent a replacement Security Orb (which he did about 1 week after I bought the scanner).... which at that time, I IM'd him and said I don't have his Security Orb.  He said he was just sending out mass replacement to all people who purchased from him and to enjoy the gift.  But this second time, after he sent the orb, I sent it right back reminding that the problem is the FULL SIM SCANNER!

I'm at this point very annoyed and disappointed.  Thomas has had a lot of amazing reviews about his support.

But clearly, something is wrong due to the lack of interest to get this fixed.

My attitude is now this.  If you can't fix this problem, REFUND MY $2,600!!!  that is a hell of a lot of money to spend for something that worked for 1 month!  NOT FAIR!

Yeah, I'm pissed off at this point and rightfully so.

So, Nonny, good luck with getting anywhere with a fix.  :(

DNS usually refers to domain name system.  I'm guessing (just a guess) that the scanner connected to the web, either belonging to Thomas or SL.  Since Thomas has been gone much longer than the few months ago it stopped working, probably SL changed something that the scanner needed to work.

Thank you for responding to my post.  I have sent Emails, notecards, IMs and no response.  So I am very frustrated and discouraged from Thomas's lack of support.   I also would like to get my 2600L back if this can't be fixed.  Mine also worked for about a month.  This is an awesome tool when it works, but sadly it doesn't work anymore.
hi there again, so its been 5 months with no fix on my problem and no reply from Thomas  I really would like to use this Full-Sim Scanner, as i said it worked the 1st or so month I had it.  I get the same error as I mentioned before.  Please help?  Thanks in advance

I have the same problem.

Thomas Conover was wonderful creator and his service was next to none. If you sent an email you sometimes got a reply within a couple of hours but never longer than 24 hours. I last saw his account online in August 2020 from looking at his groups in his profile.  Sadly he does not appear to be a member of any group now. I have sent 20 to 30 emails and never had a reply.

I fear it may be worse than losing access to a truly wonderful product his Full-SIM Object Scanner Pro 2.3.263 which will find anything on the largest or smallest parcel or sim and then take you to it. It was expensive, yes, but it was incredibly useful.

I think we may have lost a truly talented Creator.

If so, RIP Thomas Conover.

What a fantastic product that was!  Pity that nothing else available comes close to it.  :(

I looked hard for him too. I even checked obituaries. Fortunately I didn't find him in the latter.

I talked to Linden Lab people about this problem. They told me it would probably be a simple fix for someone with access to the source code. The problem is that when SL was moved to Amazion Cloud Services, the DNS server address would need an extra few digits on the front. Here's a link to the LL forum about it:
